One word “Yummmmmhhhhhh….” Patsy’s Roti and the women who make it! Every time I go to Patsy’s, Aunty Patsy is busy cooking dhalpuri roti on a great big tawah (the heat is REAL in that kitchen). At the same time Shawna is there grinding split peas and mixing seasoning for the next fresh batch of roti and curry. Those hands, those flour caked fingers >> a ritual of repetition! A labour of love 💛. When I spoke to Patsy’s daughter Ladika, she told me that Patsy learned from her mother-in-law (Latika’s grandma) ‘it’s her love, her craft’ she said... I say, you can TASTE that love and devotion in Patsy’s food. That’s the kind of food I want in my belly! Every time, despite the heat, three things remained certain: 1. Aunty Patsy’s fingers caked in flour 2. Shawna smiling, red lipstick intact (I see you Ms Shawna!) 3. Delicious, fresh and hot roti prepared right there in front of me Did I say Yum!? Horses roll to release tension, scratch an itch, feel the ground,
 to shake off what doesn’t belong. Babies twist and kick.
 Toddlers throw their whole bodies into their feelings. Even teenagers do... a slammed door, stomped foot, shoulder flick hard enough to say: …don’t touch me! Somewhere along the way, we forget.
But the instinct doesn’t leave — it just waits. You throw your head back when you laugh
 because your body remembers what it is to feel fully. You were built to move through things.

“Every setback is a setup for a greater good.” 🌅 I’ve written a new blog about healing, hypnotherapy, and how some of my deepest wounds became the foundation for something greater… something beautiful. 💛 Link in bio. ––– I first heard those words from someone who lives them. He built a home on a hill of quartz in the Caribbean—surrounded by coconuts, running water, sage, and stillness. A man who turned set backs into greater good. His words stayed with me. And lately, I’ve been asking what they really mean in my life. Because not all setbacks are obvious. Some live quietly in the nervous system for years. Hypnotherapy helped me go beneath the surface. To meet the beliefs I’d buried: “Good things get destroyed.” “Love isn’t safe.” And helped me choose something new. This post is about the journey back to softness, to trust, to safety. 🌊 And how surfing, motherhood, and inner work taught me how to live from a place of rooted calm instead of survival.
